This is Amazon’s new $70 Fire TV with 4K and HDR support
If we were starting to feel like it’d been a while given Amazon upgraded a Fire TV (the company’s answer to things like a Chromecast and Apple TV), we wouldn’t be wrong. The final large ascent a Fire TV box got was during a finish of 2015.
Until today!
Amazon has only announced an all-new Fire TV among a array of rapid-fire product debuts function right now in Seattle.
Here’s what we know so far:
- It supports 4K and HDR, doing fortitude of adult to 2160p during 60fps
- Dolby Atmos support
- 802.11ac Wi-Fi
- 1.5 Ghz quad-core CPU
- It’ll come with an Alexa-powered remote for voice control, though can also be tranquil by Echos around your room
It’ll sell for $70 on a possess when it ships after this year, or we can buy it for $80 in a gold with an Echo Dot. That’s $20 reduction than a previous-generation Fire TV, $100+ reduction than a 4K Apple TV and a same cost as Google’s Chromecast Ultra, that doesn’t come with a dedicated remote. (There’s also a Fire TV Stick and Echo Dot gold for $60 that’s available, if we cite that form factor). Amazon is pulling hard here.
The device isn’t shipping until Oct 25, though is already accessible for pre-order from Amazon’s website.
