South Park Creators Want to Take Another Shot during Making a First-Person Shooter

South Park doesn’t accurately have a good story with video games. Thankfully, after scarcely dual decades of hella lameness, a array finally found a balance with 2014’s South Park: The Stick of Truth and a arriving follow-up, The Fractured But Whole. In a new talk with IGN, array co-creator Matt Stone talked about a role-playing genre being a good fit for South Park.

I adore a approach we do The Fractured But Whole and Stick of Truth, where a whole pride behind those is it looks only like a show. RPGs only play so good into a writing, and requesting to characters. It’s a best probable thing [for a series].

So, does that meant South Park will be exclusively doing RPGs going forward? Not indispensably – it seems Stone has another genre in mind…

I would adore to make a first-person shooter. I’m not even kidding. Some arrange of first-person [game], going by a 3D thing where you’re saying a characters. Some partial of me would only adore to run around in South Park. I’m like a first-person video gamer. we only like that.

Of course, South Park has had a prior run-in with a first-person shooter. The really initial diversion formed on a franchise, expelled in 1998, was an FPS and a flattering terrible one. Sure, some of we who grew adult with an N64 might have some misled nostalgia for a game, though it has not aged well.

But hey, a strange diversion was a product of a opposite time! Any new FPS would many expected be directly overseen by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, and really wouldn’t be rubbed by a now-dead Acclaim. I’d positively be peaceful to give it a chance, as prolonged as it was done by efficient developers.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole hits PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on Oct 17.
