Samsung skeleton to redeem 157 tonnes of singular metals, including gold, from Galaxy Note 7s


Samsung Electronics announced currently that it will recycle tools from Galaxy Note 7 smartphones, that gained prominence final year after a battery forsake caused several to detonate into flame. The association pronounced in a matter on a Korean site (via Google Translate) that it also expects to redeem 157 tonnes of singular metals, including gold, from a devices.

Sales of a Galaxy Note 7 were dangling final September, though Samsung reliable in Mar that it skeleton to sell refurbished Galaxy Note 7s instead of throwing them away.

In a new announcement, Samsung pronounced it will redeem components like OLED arrangement modules, memory chips, and camera modules from Galaxy Note 7s and reuse them for repairs or recycle them. Rare metals, including cobalt, copper, and gold, will be recovered during a recycling process.

Though Samsung faces a singular PR plea since of a bursting phone fiasco, other smartphone companies have also announced initiatives to revoke their impact on a planet. For example, Apple announced in Apr that it is reckoning out how to use usually renewable materials in a products. Not to be outdone, Samsung pronounced currently that it is operative on new ways to recycle materials from a products and “actively lead a attention in terms of environmental insurance and apparatus recycling.”
