Pitchford Explains Why Borderlands 3 is Taking So Long to Arrive

Gearbox Software expelled Borderlands 2 in 2012 and after some-more than a year of content, a fans began watchful for a third installment. Now, a boss of a studio Randy Pitchford commented on since Borderlands 3 is holding so prolonged to arrive.

During an talk with IGN, Pitchford mentioned that Borderlands is really critical to Gearbox and he knows ideally that fans are watchful for a subsequent title, that is since a studio wants to take a step “really big, worthy”, so to manifest their ambitions “that’s not something we can only prepare adult overnight.”

Pitchford compared Borderlands 3’s wait with a time between Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto IV. He mentioned that Vice City and San Andreas were deliberate as continuations, though a games were “derived from a same engine, same generation.” However, it wasn’t until GTA IV that Rockstar done a poignant jump in a franchise.

According to a boss of Gearbox, it is required to take note of Rockstar’s approach, since a studio was wakeful of what a fans expected, so they had to take time to build a universe and engine of GTA IV.

In a same way, Gearbox is looking for fans of Borderlands to feel confident with their subsequent iteration. “The easiest thing in a universe would be for us to shake out a lot of Pre-Sequels, and we could make a lot of money,” Pitchford said. “We’re going to work on it, and when we consider we’ve had it—we’re not going to announce anything until we consider we have something estimable of announcing. And afterwards we’ll set expectations on that.”

So Pitchford done it transparent that he does not wish to beget good expectations during a impulse and asked fans to stay ease and wish that Gearbox could make a new Borderlands game. “We are trying, we’re reckoning it out, and we’ll see,” he commented on a work they are doing.

And if that was not enough, Pitchford pronounced in PAX West 2017 that during this time 90% of a studio is “working on a thing we wish us to be operative on“, that should really be Borderlands 3.

Pitchford already done it transparent that Borderlands 3 has not been strictly announced and could have another name, though according to his words, it is transparent that it will be a new section in a categorical series, not a spin-off as The Pre- Sequel.
