Konami Looking To Fund And Publish More Games Like Skelattack In The West
Earlier this week, Konami astounded many people when it published a mint diversion on a Nintendo Switch and other platforms called Skelattack.
If you’re still wondering how this came about, it’s all partial of a Japanese company’s new plan to strengthen a position within a western market.
Senior European code and business growth manager during Konami, Richard Jones, explained to gamesindustry.biz how a association wanted some “complementary titles” to go alongside a vital IPs:
Obviously everybody knows Konami, we have studios and teams in Japan, we have many well-known, good desired IPs. They’re all being managed and looked after by a studios in Japan, and what we’re looking for is interrelated titles, to build a portfolio with things that maybe [are] new to Konami — Western titles for Western audiences.
Konami says it’s also open to projects of all sizes in a destiny – as prolonged as it fits a criteria of being creative, innovative, and ambitious. It’s in it for a long-term as well, according to Jones:
We’re usually now only going open with this, with a recover of Skelattack, [but] I’m certain we can suppose that this has been designed for months. So, right now, we’re looking during brief and mid-term titles that need appropriation and edition support to realize their potential. we consider long-term, from my perspective, it’s about combining artistic partnerships with studios. It’s about bringing strange projects to fruition. This is something that we’re penetrating to deposit in and are peaceful to put time and resources into.
We are looking during this long-term, though we know that in sequence to get to that point, there are stairs along a path. We’ve been articulate to many people, we have a few manacles in a glow if we like, and hopefully you’ll see some of those come to delight in a not too apart future.
