If This Selfie Emoji Becomes Official, we Am Going Back To Using A Flip Phone

One of my favorite things to do is to watch and see what emojis turn possibilities for Unicode updates (don’t judge). Sometimes they’re unequivocally good and infrequently they’re, well, obnoxious.

Two years ago, a word “selfie” was combined to a dictionary, that done my day unequivocally awful until we saw that “twerk” was also added. Then it incited into a misfortune day ever. Well, another one of those gigantic facepalm days is on us, since we competence indeed have to continue an emoji depicting a motherfucking selfie.

Yes. You review that right.

The act of holding a selfie is still a boundary of jokes for days, so certainly adding an emoji won’t make things any worse. Will it? Of march it will.

01snwq5hg087kg_smallThe selfie emoji is a claimant for inclusion in Unicode 9, that would strike mid-2016. That means there’s still time to get it thrown out. The rest of a possibilities are flattering normal (here are a few):

  • Face With Cowboy Hat
  • Clown Face
  • Nauseated Face
  • Rolling On The Floor Laughing
  • Drooling Face
  • Lying Face
  • Call Me Hand
  • Raised Back Of Hand
  • Left-Facing Fist
  • Right-Facing Fist
  • Bacon
  • Handshake
  • Hand With First And Index Finger Crossed
  • Pregnant Woman
  • Facepalm
  • Shrug

See that? There’s even a facepalm emoji. That’s something we can get behind.

Please, greatfully oh emoji lords. Don’t adopt a selfie emoji. If we do, it means that a word selfie, a act of holding a selfie, saying selfie sticks, etc., will never ever go away.

Microsoft had it right when it adopted this bad boy:

What flip phone should we get?
